Science fair is a valued opportunity for students to apply the scientific method to conduct independent research. For many years at St. Ambrose School, students in the middle school grades have been required to participate in the yearly event. Preparation for the science fair began in early October with the students selecting their topics and research questions. They continued through the scientific method with writing their hypotheses, conducting research, testing, analyzing data and collecting results.
The results of each student's research were presented in our school wide science fair on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, where the student's efforts were displayed and where students were interviewed to determine scientific merit. Students all received ribbons and nine students, Sarah St. John, Julia Allen, Olivia Copeland, Grace Rose, Grant Heinz, Morgan Rowland, Natalie Ellebracht, Rachel Paule and Katy Kratschmer, were selected to move on to the regional science fair held at SIU-E on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Julia and Grant received Outstanding ratings, Olivia, Natalie, Katy, Rachel and Morgan received 1st ratings, Sarah received a 2nd and Grace received a 3rd. St. Ambrose was represented very well at the science fair!
