ALL public celebrations of the Mass and other Sacraments are suspended indefinitely in the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois, which includes St. Ambrose and St. Michael Churches.
ALL parish and school events, including the PSR and RCIA are suspended until further notice.
Adoration and Stations of the Cross at St. Michael and St. Ambrose are CANCELED.
It appears from Bishop Paprocki’s notes to the clergy that this suspension will continue (at least) through Easter Sunday. The celebration of the of the sacraments of Initiation for our Elect will take place at another time when it is safe to resume public gatherings.
Funerals will be celebrated with IMMEDIATE family only, and a Memorial Mass may be celebrated after it is safe to resume public gatherings.
Bishop Paprocki encourages us “to embrace this spiritual sacrifice together”.
All priests of the Diocese are asked to celebrate Mass daily without a congregation. Be assured that you will all be present in my heart as I do so.
Those requesting the Anointing of the Sick or the sacrament of Reconciliation should not hesitate to call the parish office and leave me a message. I will return your call and set up at time for these sacraments.
